If there is one thing our customers have in common, it's that none of them like dirty-looking showers. Imagine how awful it'd be going to the bathroom, a place associated with hygiene, and seeing deteriorated tiles and grout lines. This is exactly how a resident from Chicago, IL felt every time she went to the master bathroom in her home. Even though she had a beautiful all-marble bathroom shower, it was marred by dirt, mold, and stains. The homeowner tried cleaning the shower's surfaces with different products and methods, but she was never successful with her efforts. She realized it was best to leave the matter in the hands of experts.

For this reason, the homeowner requested estimates from several home restoration companies recommended to her by her friends and family, but she did not feel confident in their ability to bring the shower back to top condition. This prompted her to go online and search for professional tile and grout cleaners in Chicago, IL. She quickly came across our website and after seeing some of the testimonials given by our previous customers, she decided to schedule a free consultation.

A few days later, our estimator, Ann, arrived at the customer's home to inspect the shower. Right away, Ann noticed the shower's grout lines were filled with grime, soap scum, and mold. Some of the grout lines were heavily cracked and stained. Dirt and soap scum had also affected the beautiful marble tiles, giving them a dull and dingy appearance. The glass door sweeps had also seen better days and needed to be replaced.

Ann gave the homeowner a quick explanation why the shower was in its current state. Areas which are constantly exposed to water, like bathrooms and showers must be kept sealed at all times to avoid unnecessary expenses. Both grout and marble are porous, meaning that water can seep into them with ease and cause a myriad of problems.

The customer thanked Ann for her comprehensive explanation of the situation at hand. After she finished the assessment, Ann offered the client a tile and grout cleaning service accompanied by a tile and grout sealing procedure. This would help ensure the shower remained in great condition. Ann also offered to replace the glass door sweeps because they were in a terrible state. This surprised the homeowner because the sweeps had been ignored by the other companies during their assessments. Feeling confident in Sir Grout Chicago's ability to perform the necessary repairs, the customer agreed to the offer and scheduled a date for the job.

A couple of days later, our techs, Kevin and Trey went to the customer's house to perform the service. Before starting, they gave the homeowner a thorough step-by-step explanation of the cleaning and sealing process. The client thanked them for the explanation and left them to begin the restoration.

First, they cleaned the bathroom's floor and the shower's surfaces with a pH-neutral, stone-safe cleaner and a high-speed scrubber. This cleaner contains ingredients that can help inhibit the growth of harmful microorganisms for an extended period of time after it has been applied. Next, they used a steam cleaner to kill all the mold from the grout lines. Our techs removed all the bad grout and cleaned the area to make sure not to leave any residue behind.

After they finished the cleaning process, Kevin and Trey started with the sealing procedure. First, they re-grouted and sealed the shower's grout lines with our proprietary sealant, ColorSeal. This is a thick and durable sealant that provides an extra layer of protection against moisture, dirt, mold, mildew, and soap residue. Second, they used our impregnating sealant, Stone Armor, to seal all the marble. This will helps keep water from seeping into the stone's pores. To finish, they replaced the glass door sweeps.

As shown in the before and after pictures, the beautiful white-colored grout lines drastically changed the appearance of the shower. The homeowner was very happy with the results and the excellent job done by our techs. She was also pleased by how informative and helpful Sir Grout Chicago was from the day she contacted us.

To make sure the shower stayed in good condition, Kevin gave the client some maintenance tips before he left. First, he recommended cleaning with a pH-neutral, stone-safe cleaner such as Sir Grout's Natural Hard Surface Cleaner. Unlike other products, this cleaner does not damage grout or tile and does not leave any kind of residue. He also suggested keeping the bathroom ventilated, in addition to using a drying cloth after cleaning to completely dry off the bathtub's surfaces and to prevent any form of organic growth from happening. Finally, He reminded the client to keep a check on their sealant. To do this, the homeowner should place a few drops of water on the shower's tiles and grout lines. If the water is absorbed, it means the tiles and grout lines must be resealed.
